“Adjusting to living on two continents was a huge challenge for me in the beginning. It was frustrating to leave my own cultural and linguistic comfort zone and engage in personal and professional encounters within a completely new culture -- but only at first!
“As the owner of the Haute Dog Lady (a mobile food vendor and caterer), my average day involves engaging with and serving people from all over the world, across various age groups and cultures. The greatest lesson I learned through these experiences is that the key to a thriving business lies in knowing how to swiftly and successfully adapt to each customer’s expectations and quickly build a relationship based on trust and warmth. Honesty builds trust. Trust builds relationships. And relationships turn into referrals. The ripple effect of the initial encounter -- which tests how successfully one can adapt to the needs and expectations of others according to their cultural dimensions-- will either be the beginning of a successful professional or personal relationship, or bring it to a full stop.
“Equipped with the formal training from The Protocol School of Washington®, the informal training of life experience, and my trials and tribulations as the Haute Dog Lady, I established ProEtiCo LLC - Protocol & Etiquette Consulting to help others learn the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed locally and globally.”
